We All Speak Football presents an imaginary FIFA World Cup from a parallel Universe Where The Israeli-Palestinian conflict belongs to the far past. In that universe, Israel and Palestine are 2 states living in peace alongside each other and hosting together the World Cup tournament.
The project shows how this event will look across many mediums and formats, including the brand identity, concepts for the online ticket shop, graphic design for the stadium icons, brand characters, different printed formats, Tournament mascots, anthem, and TV Materials.
The graphic language was inspired by the shape of the olive tree which is a strong symbol in both Israeli and Palestinian culture and also known as an icon for peace.
The colors of the brands were inspired by the landscapes of the land of Israel.
The Project was presented as a solo exhibition in the Public Library of tel aviv: "Beit-Ariela library" during the days of the 2022 world cup
"We all speak football", the slogan of the tournament was translated into all the languages of the teams participating. The slogan could be seen on merchandise and fan shirts in the stadiums. The slogan also appeared on the official poster of the tournament as seen in the middle poster above.
Here you can see the Online ticket shop Concept for those who buy tickets to the world cup. The layout of the shop was inspired by the game "FIFA". The matches are divided by the stage of the tournament and could be picked as a bundle package or single games.
The printed products were a major part of the project Because it makes great memories. Every match card is a combination of an iconic moment from the history of the world cup represented with the "olive tree" graphic language and the landscapes and landmarks from the city where the match is taking place. here you can see examples of tickets from the stadium located in Tel Aviv, Nablus, Jerusalem Jaffa, and Gaza.
The format of the card was designed in a way that when you fold it into hald you'll get in the upper part a postcard from the holy land, and on the bottom all the details of the relevant match.
The TV Graphics and infographics element were inspired by the leaves of the olive tree. here you can see the formation of a match as the two leaves are crossed to each other and the way a "group" from the group stage appears.
The mascot character is one of the major parts of the brand identity of a world cup tournament. for the one hosted by Israel & Palestine, I picked Koby, The hoopoe bird that is the national bird of Israel, and Hamudi, the Palestinian sunbird is the national bird of Palestine. the two of course got into the very well-known team of the world cup mascots that appears in the tournament since 1966.
Last but not least: one of the most important parts for me while imagining how a world cup will look like was the music part. I wanted my event to have an epic anthem. I collaborated with a producer and together we created the anthem you can here in the video above.
the melody was inspired by the nostalgic "Shirim Ve'shearim", an Israeli radio show that ran from the mid '70s until the beginning of the 2000s. the melody was transformed into something you can connect with the Uefa Champions League anthem.
This project was made into an exhibition in the public library of tel aviv, "Beit Ariela Library" during the days of the 2022 world cup. During that time I was invited to make my lecture "designing the world cup" and talk about this project.
